Seattle, WA – January 17-18 — As graduation season approaches, high school seniors across the country face one of life’s biggest transitions: stepping out of high school and into adulthood. Academic preparation alone isn’t enough — today’s students also need emotional intelligence, communication skills, and leadership confidence to thrive. That’s where the new College Ready Weekend Workshops come in.
This two-day immersive experience equips graduating seniors with the tools to design their future, find their leadership voice, and navigate both academic and everyday challenges with confidence.
Over the course of the weekend, participants will:
Design Their Future – explore personal values, goals, and paths for success.
Find Their Leadership Voice – practice speaking up, leading with authenticity, and building influence.
Navigate Everyday Life – learn practical skills for independence, communication, and decision-making.
Conquer Academic Life – discover strategies to manage coursework, balance responsibilities, and build resilience.
The workshop blends interactive activities, peer discussions, and expert guidance to foster growth in a supportive and inspiring environment. Students walk away not only better prepared for college, but with the socio-emotional, communication, and leadership skills that will serve them for years to come.
“The transition from high school to college can be overwhelming. This workshop is designed to give students the confidence, self-awareness, and practical skills they need to not just survive in the game of life, but truly thrive,” Dr. Shalina J. Akins , program leader and long-time educator.
